in a word Loyalty" But then I have the Red Sox plus the Yankee's to hate

Aaron Shurtleff | September 8, 2009
I'm sure that some people are paying to see the bigger teams that come in to play there. The Rays down here only attract the bigger crowds when the Red Sox or Yankees are in town. Yeah, part of that is that the Yankees have done their spring training in Tampa for years, but still.

Plus, it stands to reason that the bad teams have the least numbers of folks who are possibly on the juice, so people might be there for that too! :)

But loyalty is probably the biggest reason. Plus, when the team is horrible, it's usually cheaper to see the games, so it's more economical sometimes. It's probably a baseball thing.

Honestly I like going to see a game, I have been to more Pawtucket RedSox games than Boston RedSox games over the last 5 years because Cost is a big issue

There's nothing complicated about it. Some people just enjoy going to the game and rooting for their team whether they win or not. Trust me; I grew up in Cubs country. The losing streak can go on for a century without any change in fandom.

Although sticking with a losing team through the years may not say much for your wisdom, it does say something for your loyalty. It strengthens your soul. (Or is that callouses your soul?) The Yankees win all the time and they have a lot of obnoxious fans, present company excepted. Would you rather spend time talking baseball with a Yankees fan or a Pirates fan?

The answer to that is "no contest" for me -- I know... I'm in Gatorville.

I'm a little late to the party... but I feel like contributing...

I am a diehard Yankee fan... I made it to 15 regular season games this year, and 1 game per round of the post season... I'll watch over 130 games a season on TV....

That being said... we also have this "other" team in NY... 2 years in a row they lost the division on the lsat day of the season... this year they were a disgrace... They built this new stadium that is a tribute to a team that left the city 50 years ago.. and they couldn't sell a ticket towards the end.

I see where other people have problems... but there is something about going to a baseball game that other sports just can't recreate... i don't get it either
