So is disk golf a big fad everywhere recently, or just around here? We've had a frisbee golf course in town for as long as I can remember, but it's only the last few years that everyone I meet seems to talk about it. I've never played, myself; I am astonishingly hopeless at anything resembling a sport. My husband is currently out playing it for the first time, which is why the topic is on my mind. If it's a recent trend around the country, what do you think caused it?

I used to play quite a bit, but haven't played in 5 years or so. It's a pretty good time actually. They had many courses in North Carolina when I lived there back in the late 80's, early 90's. And here in the St. Louis area there are a number of courses also.

Yeah, it's not new -- I played in college, too... both on designated courses with baskets and chains to stop the frisbee and on made-up courses around campus (more fun, in my opinion). Wow, I miss that now -- thanks a lot, Jackie!

There was a course in town since the early 80s, at least, but I just never heard of anyone using it until recently. Maybe that's just because I didn't know any people. Ha ha. Did they always sell this vast array of different frisbees you are supposed to use for different purposes?

Yep. They have discs for "driving", "putting", discs that curve left or right, etc. I still have some buried in a box somewhere in the house.

Wow. I played this in college too, but we had just one frisbee per person, and the "holes" were just trying to hit random objects with the frisbee in as few throws as possible. I had no idea there were actual courses and (I assume) rules and regulations!

I'll play it when it comes out for Xbox.
