I think for me, since to the best of my knowledge, the first 007 I knew was Roger Moore, he is the Bond to whom I compare all others.* I have no disrespect for Connery (who, I am well aware is considered the best my almost everyone), but Moore is to me who James Bond is. Perhaps if I read the books, I might get a different impression of who the Bond character is (I listened to Casino Royale once as an audiobook, and I have yet to see a person who played Bond in a movie that seemed like that 007...again all due respect to Daniel Craig), but I grew up with Moore, and that's who I see him as.

That said, my favorite is probably For Your Eyes Only. It benefits from following Moonraker (I don't want to say worst Bond film, but...it's hard to watch), and I think it is a fun 007 spy film that I will always re-watch any chance I get. It's got a good mix of drama and a smidge of funny (I'm sorry, but the ice skating rink scene is so good!).

*I probably misused the word whom there, but I so rarely even try to use it that I had to give it a shot.

I have to confess, Moore's Bond is a blind spot for me. I haven't seen a single one of the films. I know them only by their decent reputation.

I've seen several of Connery's Bond pictures, all of them good. I've seen several of Craig's, too, which have been a mixed bag. Sadly, the only Bond I've seen 100% of has been Brosnan; three of his four films have aged very poorly.

Here's a nice story about Moore. (Warning: Auto-playing video on page.)
