It's more of a throwback to the rock music aesthetic of 1985 than 1975. (Zing?) I have to assume that at least some of it is a joke, like the drummer taking his own photo with a selfie stick while performing, but these days, who knows.
You might have heard their better-known song "Somebody Else." That one doesn't have a great video, so I skipped over it. I try to select videos showing the artists performing.

I've never heard of The 1975, so I watched the "Love Me" video in their biography. A lot going on there: floating guitars, inflatable band name, hot tub spitting, and the lead singer molesting cardboard cutouts of children. It almost felt like a parody of rock bands.
