Evie Totty: “It was ok.”

What is Superman came from an evil alien family? That's pretty much the premise of this film.

A pretty terrifying film actually.

After a difficult struggle with fertility, Tori Breyer's dreams of motherhood come true with the arrival of a mysterious baby boy. Brandon appears to be everything Tori and her husband, Kyle, ever wanted -- bright, talented and curious about the world. But as Brandon nears puberty, powerful darkness manifests within him, and Tori becomes consumed by terrible doubts about her son. Once Brandon begins to act on his twisted urges, those closest to him find themselves in grave danger.

Written and directed by James Gunn - it's no GotG but it's worth watching for sure. Spoilers in the comments

Scott Hardie: This sounds a bit like a movie adaptation of that Twilight Zone episode about the omnipotent kid. I've always liked that episode for its potential as a parable (for instance, irresponsible American voters as the kid and elected officials in Washington as the obsequious townsfolk), but I never thought that it was dramatically very good. I don't know what moral Brightburn is supposed to teach, other than maybe act sooner if your child is a psychopath, but from the ads, it didn't look very dramatically interesting either. :-\ − December 10, 2019 • more by Scott
