Isle of Dogs
Featuring a star-studded voice cast and set against the landscape of rural Japan, this animated adventure follows a game young boy on his long and often-dangerous search to find his beloved dog.

Scott Hardie: “It ruled.”

Wes Anderson is one of the most consistent directors working today; you already know whether you like or dislike his other work, and consequently this movie too. This offers more of his personal style: Elaborately detailed, panoramic and panning, deadpan and twee. He likes underdogs, and this time they're literal. The trailer makes pretty clear whether this is the movie for you. Obviously from the rating, I liked it. I could have done without the gory parts (I was not expecting those), but otherwise I loved the rich attention to detail, the perfectly-delivered deadpan humor, and the adorability of the dogs. The whole movie is adorable, to be honest.
