The Paper Chase
1973
A hardworking first-year student at Harvard Law School struggles to win the respect of a brilliant but ruthless professor, but he finds himself under the microscope when he learns that the girl he's been dating is the professor's daughter.

Scott Hardie: “It ruled.”

This movie's reputation for being an entertaining battle of wills between an ambitious law student and his implacable professor isn't based on screen time; the latter has very few scenes. But I enjoyed the film as a thoughtful, if slightly dated drama.

Steve West: Timothy Bottoms and Lindsay Wagner both transitioning to the small screen would have made the TV series a mega-hit. Houseman almost did that all by himself. − February 4, 2012 • more by Steve
