Week 86: Doctor Strange
I've always liked this movie. I've probably watched it a handful of times now. The humor works for me, and the storyline is engaging enough to keep me invested. I particularly enjoy how, as you said Scott, they are still setting the stage for future movies, much like they did in GOTG. Layers upon layers went into building this universe. By and large, I think we can see that this was a well-thought-out universe they were constructing.
Scott, I don't find his music choices to be all that odd. Everyone has their thing. He has expensive taste, for sure, but it seems to be only for material goods. Artistic taste can't always be ascribed to wealth. Much like Tony Stark, the love of rock music may be a subtle nod ad the rock and roll lifestyle -- damn the man, I'll do what I want, etc.
I accept your point about rock music. It could well be that I am the snob, not Strange.
Talking about this movie on a video call today, I realized that I can never remember the phrase "Sanctum Sanctorum" for Strange's magic house in New York, and I consistently mispronounce it "Sanctum Santorum," which means something very different. I should probably work on that. :-P
