Everybody, please refrain from posting anything to the site (TC or otherwise) until the problem is fixed. It should be sometime today. Thanks.

Update: My web host reports that the site was lost due to a damaged hard drive, and the most recent archive they had was dated June 9th, so they put it up in place. (This happened once before, but only a few hours' worth of TC updates were lost.) Specifically, here's where each section stands:

GOO - The round starts over again, with a second chance to guess at last week's Sports goo, whose identity was already announced before the loss. You have three days to enter a guess for him, at which time the Comedy goo from this week will go online as though it was new. The good news is that those of you who missed a guess at the Sports goo will now get a second chance; don't miss your chance to get in on the ground floor with the new round, especially with a goo this easy.

TMW: I lost my four latest reviews, which is annoying because the big image on the site menu is currently advertising them. I have put in placeholders, and I will probably not attempt to rewrite them.

TC: Here's where the biggest loss occurred in terms of volume of data, but honestly, I'm not especially bothered. We didn't have any earth-shattering announcements, revelations, or confrontations in the last two weeks, did we? I hate to lose any content, but if it must be lost, I think I can live without the cat on the towel and more of the usual controversy about Michael Moore.

TWC: Nothing except the group calendar, which is the only thing updated any more anyway. If you happen to wonder, the game was temporarily dead, but the players have talked me into giving it a two-part finale later this summer. The site won't get any updates.

FIN: Nothing was lost at all. Not only has it been over two weeks since the last reply was written, but not even a single item in the store sold during that time. Ouch! (No posts would have been lost; I have those archived on my hard drive.) I am about 2/3s done with the new post and just need to find another 4-5 free hours in my schedule to finish it. That should happen by Saturday.

I may have overlooked some things on the site, so please inform me if anything should be back now but isn't. It wasn't just the database that was reverted to June 9th; everything was reset. Suddenly I was getting emails to webmaster@cgg again.

If there's a silver lining to having lost two weeks of the site like this, it's a stark reminder of how deeply it would suck to lose everything for good. This Sunday I will initiate a new program of archiving the entire database on my hard drive every week before I put up a new goo, to minimize future losses. Let's hope we don't have to deal with this again.

And thank you all for refraining from posting anything in the meantime while I got this sorted out. :-)
