I was introduced to Gorey's work in the macabre John Bellairs young-adult mysteries I grew up with (link), which, now that I look back on them, seem like a major subliminal influence on FIN. Looking up Bellairs today after this article, I was pleased to see that his first and most popular mystery is also in development for a film, which could make a great nostalgia-riffing double-feature with the Gorey flick. Thanks for the memories, Jackie.
