Not at all... I had a boyfriend in college who took Shona as his language course (how often will he use *that* one!) -- and I used to help him study for his exams. I probably absorbed more of the language than he did, actually... but the one word that sticks with me (though probably a neologism in their language) is the word for "motorcycle" -- mududu.
