It has become sport among certain smug designers to make fun of out-of-touch campaign logos, as the mockery of Jeb Bush's logo and mockery of Hillary Clinton's logo demonstrates. I don't understand the supposed transgressions of these logos. Yeah, they're mildly tacky. Who gives a shit? They're campaign logos; they're supposed to be serviceable, not groundbreaking. That would be like expecting a sitcom to produce highbrow art. Bush has been using the same logo throughout his entire career, and I find it charming that he's staying retro and consistent, but I guess that makes him some kind of backwards rube who doesn't understand modernity. The nitpicking over his logo goes as far as to laugh over how the J and the E are slightly too close together. Is this really important? I can't believe that anybody cares about this. I'm not a professional designer, so maybe I just can't understand, but I am a professional programmer and I can't imagine getting this worked up over how they coded their web sites. (Then again, some people have...)

Are the logos really that bad?
