I don't know if anyone else has been paying attention, but we've had a quiet little contest on our hands for the goo-game title of Master, ie. the person with the highest score ever, between Denise Sawicki and Mike Eberhart. (current scores) Denise had the title for a year, then Mike claimed it this spring, then Denise reclaimed it during the tournament at the end of last round. Now, Mike reclaims it daily and Denise reclaims it right back from him. Me, I'm acutely aware of the constant see-sawing since the site notifies me every time one of them overtakes the other so that I can manually update the Master section of the Player Awards page.

Mike and Denise, you're both terrific players and I hope you'll keep right on playing your hearts out. For my sake, I'm going to hold off on editing the Player Awards page until one of you establishes a definitive lead of 2-3 goos over the other, and then I'll retroactively update it with the correct dates. Good luck in the game to each of you, but I know that you play for fun, and that this is a friendly competition between you if it is even a competition at all.

For the record, Userrank is ordered first by the number of goos the players guessed correctly (descending from highest), then by the date of the most recent goo guessed correctly (oldest first), then by the date of the first goo guessed correctly (oldest first). Denise and Mike are usually tied on the first two values, so Denise edges Mike out on the third value.

I think you can hand the title to Mike permanently. I never get those hard ones. :-)

Mike Eberhart | September 14, 2007
Yeah, but I'm not as good as I used to be. It seems to take me a long time anymore to get the hard ones.

Denise Sawicki | September 14, 2007
You got Lori's one and I didn't and I don't see myself catching up any time soon unless you go on vacation or something.

I usually do when they lean toward the anime side of things. Mainly because I have no idea where to even begin looking. But I do make an attempt to look for some of the other ones that you submit. I may not find them and not guess, but I do still look.

Congrats, Mike. The title is all yours again. (link)

Enough with the manual updates. Now that Denise has reclaimed the title back from Mike again, I have altered the awards page to compute the stats dynamically in the Master section. If the list of dates grows too long, I'll just remove them. Congrats (again), Denise!
