As you may have already seen in the splash image on the home page, email announcements are now working again. (link) I was in a bit of a hurry to finish this project with the end of the GOO round approaching, when I must send out an announcement. However, there's been a longstanding need for 24-hour reminders in the goo game, so I'm glad they're finally working. I hope they give an edge to the players who are savvy enough to use them. :-)

All users are unsubscribed from everything by default, except for FIN players, who are auto-subscribed to the FIN announcement list (but who may change that if they wish).

I encourage you to allow other users to contact you on the site. It allows for private communication with other authors/players without them finding out what your email address is. A link will appear in the upper-right corner whenever you have a new message. Trying turning this on and sending yourself a test with the Contact a User page (link) to see what it's like.

As always, please report to me any glitches that you discover. Thanks.

No. They were among the site features that I didn't get finished by November 1st and had been forced to let languish ever since. I saved them for near the end because I'm scared of sending email to people who don't want it... partly because I work in an industry that is justifiably anxious about the high fines that can be imposed on repeat spammers, but also because Todd once gave me a stinging response to an unsolicited email, and I deserved it, and I have not forgotten how it felt to have so bothered someone like that.
