Just wanted to talk about a little game that Darrell and Darrin and I sometimes play. We sometimes see someone when we're out who looks just a little like some actor or other famous person and mention it to each other. I cannot show any examples of this because I don't surreptitiously take picutres of random people at the grocery store :P. One time at a mini golf course, for instance, there was a guy who looked like a caricature of Larry David, it was hilarious, the guy was even wearing golf type cloths as Larry David often does on Curb. Also, we vaguely know someone who looks a bit like Murray from Flight of the Conchordes. At a group picnic years ago, Darrell and Darrin were whisper-singing "Cheer up, Murray" to each other and I was giggling. No wonder everyone thinks we are psychopaths. Anyhow....

Another form this game can take is when an actor you have previously not seen looks like other actors, or like a combination of two or more actors. I *can* in fact provide examples of this. First one.. not an actor, but a model for a very commonly seen magazine ad:

We call this guy "Mister" because to us he resembles Lister from Red Dwarf with a dash of Mulder thrown in. These are kind of vague resemblances, which adds to the humor of the game in my opinion. You likely won't get this at all unless you've seen Red Dwarf, but anyhow...

Lister (Craig Charles):

Mulder (David Duchovny):

We've also seen a waiter around town who looked like "Mister" but did not look like Lister or Mulder.

Another one. We saw this guy, David McCallum, on Outer Limits episodes from circa 1964. Darrell immediately dubbed him "Niles Baggins" or "Frodo Crane".

Niles Crane (David Hyde Pierce):

Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood):

I am not sure where the Elijah Wood resemblance comes in. A certain creepiness around the eyes I think. :P

Does anyone else play this game? Have any examples of your own? Does anyone think we're completely nuts? :)

The nose, too, actually...

Lol... completely nuts in a completely good way!

And, okay, since we did talk about this, too:

Doogie

plus

Duchovny

equals

James Marsters as
Captain John Hart ("Doogovny"???)

Another look-alike that nobody seems to agree with us on, because we are nuts :).
Hugh Laurie

looks like Patrick McGoohan

and not just because they are both blue-eyed Englishmen. Though Laurie is typically much scruffier looking it becomes particularly noticeable to us when Laurie is clean shaven (as above) or McGoohan has stubble. :P

Lol... no, I can see that...

The resemblance between Will Ferrell and Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith is pretty well documented by now. Maybe Smith should play a cowbell in their next video.

We're almost done watching Lost. I can't get over how much actor Mark Pellegrino looks like he should be singing in Franz Ferdinand.

On this one I've realized I'm probably insane.
Saw this minor character in Luke Cage (the guy who tries to sell him DVDs)

and every time I see him I think of Neal Schweiber from Freaks and Geeks. Not sure why :)

Ha, I can see that resemblance. I heard that Colleen Wing's student in Iron Fist (this guy) was also in Luke Cage, and I thought he was the guy selling DVDs. But no, looking it up now, I think he was just a neighborhood kid who showed up in the barber shop. I don't care enough about these Marvel shows to keep track of every minor, barely-named character who pops up in unrelated episodes. :-P
