You can call them seasons or rounds, but either way, Fall 2011 is the 50th time we've played Celebrity Goo Game. This season ranges from a serious remembrance of a national tragedy to a silly assortment of mirth-makers, from events still happening in the news today to a fading trend of generations past. It starts right now, so here's your chance to start solving every goo of the season and become our 50th champion.

I spent today mapping out not just 10 themes for the fall season, but another 36 themes for Celebrity Goo Game Live to be played at GooCon: Villa Ridge. Since players at the live game will have no access to the Internet, I've tended to hold the themes full of household names for the live game, and filled the online game's fall season with celebrities whose names might need some looking up. Given that the return of categories and the new longer clue format seem to have made the game much easier, I don't think that will present much of a problem for players. Fun is still the name of the game. Good luck!

Judging from my comments above, I was too optimistic about players' chances with the hard goos this season. The "DotComedy" theme in particular turned out to be just brutal, much harder than I expected or wanted. The "Mothers of Invention" theme that was scheduled for next week was not going to provide any relief before more difficult goos in the tournament, so I've postponed it until the winter season. In its place, I have put one of several themes that I cut from the live goo game at GooCon: Villa Ridge because there were too many actors and the weekend needed more variety of subject matter. The other unused GooCon themes will turn up online soon.
