Member data security has been overhauled on Funeratic.
The three levels of security options have been removed from the Account Options page, since most members used the default settings. Instead, the new system is a hybrid of the three levels: Cookies no longer store any uniquely identifying information about you, you have different cookie data for each login on each device, some member data will be deleted after a (long) period of inactivity, and the password-reset process has been improved to avoid a small risk of exposure to hackers. The Privacy Policy has been amended accordingly.
I've also done more to bot-proof the public-facing forms (Log In, Register, Forgot My Password, and Feedback). Those first three have been made into true pages on the site, instead of modals that open over the current page. The Register form also now does more to avoid accidental duplicate accounts by recognizing existing members better.
Funeratic now exclusively uses cookies for logging in. If you were one of the few people who preferred sessions, you can achieve the same effect by logging out each time you're done visiting the site and then logging back in when you return. No information will be stored in your browser after logging out.
Each member should automatically be transitioned from the old system to the new system the next time they visit the site, without needing to do anything.
If you experience any trouble with logging in or staying logged in, or with the register form or forgot-my-password form, please let me know. If you have trouble with the feedback form and cannot reach me that way, you can also find me on Facebook to report an issue. (I'll see it faster if we're friends. Friend me!)
Sharp-eyed members might notice that the new versions of the forms look a little bit different, with darker colors and new icons. This is part of a separate project, about which I'll have more to announce later. Other pages will start to look like this in the meantime.
