By now, you've probably heard about Tupac Shakur performing at Coachella this past Sunday, both solo and in a duet with Snoop Dogg. It wasn't a hologram, technically; it was a digital projection onto a screen that made him seem to appear on the stage, but close enough.
Thoughts on this?
Most of the feedback seems positive. A few people object to the moral implications, or perceived issues with the execution of the illusion, or the further profiting and diluting of Tupac after his death.
Me, I'm blown away by the hologram, and curious whether we'll now see bands reunite with their dead members on stage and other similar variations. I used to wonder if the adulation for the short-lived Tupac would ever die down, but now my curiosity is satisfied: No. It will go on like this for years to come.
