Trouble the Water

I'm not a big soda drinker Scott but I usually can drink 4 to 5 bottles of water daily

Always carry a bottle of water with you, whether it be plastic or metal travel. You find yourself drinking from it, even when your not thirsty. Sips maybe, but it adds up, and gets you in a habit.

Good points. Weaning myself off of soda should help too, as water will take its place. I drank nothing but water for months during and after trying the Atkins diet, and I didn't mind, but eventually I craved something sweet and I'm a bit hooked on fizzy sodas now (all Diet varieties, but still not good for me). I'll try out your ideas. Thanks!

Meh, I've tried it a few times. I miss the sweet flavor of soda. I've tried adding Mio and other sweeteners to water too, and I can never seem to get the mix quite right; it's either too sweet or not sweet enough, and doesn't taste right. I can't drink juice or coffee or tea, and I won't drink alcohol, so my drink options are limited. :-\

Do you drink water? How much in a day? Do you want/try to drink more?
In a typical day, I'll consume maybe three bottles of diet soda and one glass of water. I've been told by a doctor and nutritionist to increase my water intake; I should do so gradually until I reach a goal of 125 fluid ounces daily. That's 6-8 bottles of water a day!
I've been trying to force myself to drink more, even when I have no desire to drink, and I understand that staying hydrated staves off hunger and food cravings. But it's really unpleasant to force myself to drink when I'm not remotely thirsty; it feels like forcing something into my mouth/body that I don't want. Plus there's the irritation of waking up over and over again at night to go to the bathroom.
The whole "eight glasses of water a day" notion is unfounded. And yet, even if I never reach 125 fl oz daily, I should aim to drink more water in general. Any advice for getting there?
