My mind does that when I read, too: It pictures the house being described as a house that I've been in. When I sold insurance for nine months in 2003, I spent many days visiting senior citizens in their homes around St. Petersburg, and I remember so many of their houses. Even though I wasn't in any of the buildings for more than an hour or two, they have stayed with me and become part of the collection of houses in my head when I read. The brain does weird things.
