Amy: I fear you're right. At the very least, the downward trend will continue for years, so we're in for lots more of theater owners blaming Hollywood and Hollywood blaming moviegoers and moviegoers blaming theater owners.
Jackie: I can't wait for Idlewood either, and not just because its an obvious Moulin Rouge! descendant. My only question is whether I can talk my Mom into breaking down and trying it (she'll like if I can get her that far) or whether I'll have to go alone.

Yeah, it's funny -- in their efforts to make more money for themselves, the theaters just keep making more reasons for us to stay home and wait for the DVDs (if it's good!) or TBS (needn't say more there). Sadly, I think the true cinema experience is headed in the same direction as the dining out experience, a la Scott's Sarasota restaurant eulogy.
