How to Be a Player: Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons had their fingers on the pulse of hip hop in the mid-1980s, producing many classic rap records, as well as some rock and R&B along the way. Their label Def Jam has changed owners a few times, and launched some spin-off record labels and a platform for stand-up comedy, but it will always be associated with its run of classic 1980s recordings. This theme imagines a match-up between every artist who was ever published by the label.
