I am not sure what makes that play a dick move. It's probably not too far off from what I would have done if the roles were reversed.
Have I been playing dickishly this whole time???
Scott Hardie | November 21
With one of these play rules, it's really easy for the defender to seize whole rows and columns at a time. For instance, on turn 2, you played beside me. I could then play in the third space horizontally and capture the whole row. No matter where you played next, I could play opposite it vertically and capture the whole column. I could then repeat for turns 7 and 9. You, as challenger, usually can't do much to stop me when I control the board like that. I've been in many concerts with this play rule and many go down that way. It's not against the rules at all, but it does kind of feel unsporting to me for the defender to use that advantage so blatantly. I try to do it only when it's really the best option.

As I predicted, that strategy wasn't much help anyway. At best it allowed me to survive to round two at even more of a disadvantage.
What I said above is just how I see things. I certainly don't expect anybody else to feel that way about the strategy.

I don't like to play this way, but dick moves are the only ones that give me a chance with this combination of artists and rules. :-(
