Samir Mehta: “It sucked.”
Like The Counselor, it really disappointed - great cast, great production values, great setting and it simply does not hang together. At. All. Not worth watching at all.
Scott Hardie: I didn't see it because most of the critics said what you said, but I love 40s LA true crime and I keep thinking I might rent it anyway even if it sucks. The consensus sounds like the director Ruben Fleischer decided to amp up the graphic violence to the detriment of everything else and without any moral judgment on it, like he was imitating Zack Snyder. For once, I wish that the studio had insisted on toning it down for a PG-13 rating, so that the rest of the movie wouldn't have been so overwhelmed by the over-the-top action. − December 16, 2013 more by Scott
