Scott Hardie: “It sucked.”
For a documentary featuring a professional comedian talking about marijuana for 90 minutes, this unfunny movie is a disappointment. It comes alive in a few parts, when Benson takes the stage or riffs in private with other comedians, and you get the impression that a 90-minute movie of Benson just doing his act would have been funnier. Most of the movie is dull, especially the material about the DEA raiding marijuana dispensaries in California. One scene of DEA agents loading contraband into their truck while protesters boo nearby seems to go on forever, long after any point has been made. This parody knock-off makes Morgan Spurlock look like Werner Herzog.
