The Soloist
This true-life drama tells the poignant tale of Los Angeles newspaper reporter Steve Lopez (Robert Downey Jr.), who discovers brilliant street musician Nathaniel Ayers (Jamie Foxx), and the unique friendship that transforms both their lives.

Scott Hardie: “It was ok.”

All of the pieces are here for a really good drama, with two actors at the top of their game. But the movie, presenting a bad case of "Hollywood crazy," never really takes off beyond bland ruminations about friendship. There's some great music, though.
