Scott Hardie: “It ruled.”
Wow! I knew very little going into this short film beyond a basic familiarity with the comic-book characters, so I wasn't prepared for the level of playfulness and creativity involved. This is a well-executed riff on classic Universal monster movies, albeit with special effects that were impossible 90 years ago. From the ornately detailed production design and character design, to the lush musical score, to the captivating performances, to a single spectacular long take when the movie finally erupts in bloody violence, this is really well done. Its only flaw at all is some rushed CGI that doesn't look convincing.
