Could a playable game be made out of changing the rules of chess so that you can move as many pieces as you want on your turn, but only one move per piece?

I see no problem with the first turn out of the gate (white could not immediately capture any of black's pieces), but there's considerable potential for catastrophic loss on the second turn if one player isn't careful.

You'd have to use some kind of visual indicator of which pieces have already been moved, but a visible felt disc beneath each moved piece is one of several easy ways to solve that.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll probably program this sometimes, as a programming exercise (I need more excuses to develop in new technologies) if nothing else.

I agree with your assessments. Not only would the endgames get crazy, they'd come soon, too. Perhaps you might be able to get really good at the defensive part of the game, but it seems to me that almost every game would last five minutes, tops. I could see you being limited to a certain number of pieces per turn overall, as another way of preserving some sanity. I'm sure that this could be made and played, but I don't know if it would really go anywhere beyond the novelty.
