This has really nothing to do with the post, but my boyfriend and I were wondering - why didn't the rebels give the Empire a chance? I mean, they probably have a great health plan, 401k, etc.

They were certainly cleaner and had cooler outfits.

See, I don't remember any of that but of course I don't remember the backstory to the original films, and I'm foggy on the pre-quels since i only saw the first one, I think.

Ah well.

My parents took me too - even though I was too young to read the screen in the beginning.

ROTJ was the first movie I ever saw in the theater. I fell asleep during it and cried the entire way home, so my dad had to take me again the next day. This time he made sure I stayed awake.

I suppose this would explain why all those Empire vehicles fall whenever some furry dwarfs hit them with logs.

Driver error, all the way.

It's funny. Most of my friends have a fond memory of some early movie they saw in theaters, usually one of the Star Wars film, and they have revered the film ever since. My childhood movie-going memories are only from the bad ones, the times when I had to be carried out screaming and crying because the movie scared me (Return to Oz with the shrieking heads, Superman III with the robot lady). I don't have any movie that I love on that deep level like you lifelong Star Wars fans have yours, and I envy you.

Oh, I'm not in love with Star Wars.
