A 23% unemployment rate is evidence of a pretty screwed up system. If de Villepin is really doing this for the workers, why not make it easier to hire them without changing how hard it is to fire them? I can only assume the latter is a compromise with industry leaders, but why is such a compromise needed? Isn't the former a good thing for both workers and companies? Or am I just missing something?
