I remember seeing something about this on one of the Discovery/Nat Geo channels... pretty freaky. However... I don't really understand the amazement concerning cranial capacity -- after all, there are plenty of smart critters out there with grapefruit or smaller sized brains... and if they had opposable thumbs as well, then they'd probably craft tools, too -- why should that be so "astounding"? And besides that, isn't the actual percentage of brain mass used by humans "astoundingly" low? (Or is it... ??? (link) (link) (link) (link) )

Amy, I think it depends on the individual. You see examples every day of some people who's brain mass is obviously lower than average. And most of them can be found driving on Florida roadways.

Heheh... the phrase "takes one to know one" is popping in my head -- but keep in mind that I'm FROM Florida, too... ;-) The stupid drivers are EVERYWHERE, unfortunately... I guess that should prove that a small-brained genus has populated elsewhere -- hah!
