A little off-topic, but since you seem to be the expert on manga and anime around these here parts, what's the deal with the tradition of exploding Kanji notes in Japanese pop culture?

I've seen detonating notes in a few action manga. A note bearing a Kanji character drifts down -- usually tossed by a character -- and blows up on contact with another character or somehow KOs them.

It also turns up in a few fighting games I've seen, like Street Fighter 2 Alpha, in which the "Dan" character throws Kanji-labeled notes to do damage; and in the Ranma 1/2 games.

Ah! Mystery solved.

Why'd I keep calling it Kanji? I don't know.
