Poor Terry McAuliffe (and "Big Russ", too)... only a month after his laughable, but supremely embarrassing "Meet the Press" gaff that had Tim Russert's dad ("Big Russ") prematurely deceased -- a decent enough grace period to have the event be only somewhat forgotten -- and now this?

Maybe he's fortunate enough that I'm the only one (crass enough) to bring it up/notice thus far??? (Anyone want to place bets on a "Daily Show" mention by Jon Stewart, come Monday night? Weekends have a very convenient way of taking the edge off the gravity in situations like these... ;-D)

I didn't watch much of Russert, but I didn't have to to recognize his warmth, his passion for politics, and his incisive journalistic chops. All young political broadcast journalists would do well to model themselves after him.

I had just been thinking of him yesterday morning, when it occurred to me how rarely big news happens when a big reporter is on the scene by coincidence. In the movies, a reporter could be among the hostages taken when a bank is robbed, but in real life, we don't see it happen to, say, Tim Russert.

Me, too. Russert was a weekend regular on my TV. His humor-laced savvy was enviable.

I think he means well, too, Jackie... just... "enthusiastic", I think. Kind of like... someone wanting to pay respects to Tim in their *own* discussion... ;-) ;-D
