Is anyone else missing the game? I find myself not checking the site as much as I used to. It's like something is missing in my life. Who's with me?

Amy Austin | December 6, 2005
Hehheh... no comment.

(Let's just say that I've probably done a little too much ebaying in the last couple of months... even for Christmas.)

Not to mention... I'm just kind of tired of looking at the South Park Phantom. His pasty white complexion makes that ciggy look like a big red zit, you know... (what I thought it was until Lori said something! ;-D)

I miss it, but I'm enjoying the break, too. It's letting me focus on some things in my life that need my attention. The game is more easily manageable when I make a big batch of goos on a weekend, but when I fall behind and have to do one every night, not only is that 30-60 minutes out of my night every night, but it means I have to be here at my computer before midnight to do it, and there go certain other things I could be doing with my time. So I'm gaining more perspective about the game and about my life in the process of taking this break. I've considered extending the break by one more month, but I doubt I'll do it; I look forward to starting again as much as the rest of you. :-)

What I do think I'll take from this permanently is an appreciation of taking a break from the game sometimes. When it goes on daily for months at a time and then a round ends, I shouldn't just take off one week to clear the queue and immediately launch the new round. After a year with that approch, we were all fatigued, me most of all. I think that between rounds, we need to take off more like 3-4 weeks. It gives us all a breather, and it clears my mindset of leaning towards more difficult goos and helps me get back to basics. What do you think? Worth a try?

When a game at this rate at least lasts 1/3 of a year, we're good to take a minimum of a month off. I know I was burned out on the last one, not really into int mentally to play by the end. I think every day a new goo is also a bit stressing as sometimes a few days go by where I don't have time to solve a goo and then I'm sitting here trying to solve several at once. Just my opinion :)

I'm not suggesting you revert from daily to weekly, but I do agree with every part of everything said by both of you. I could even go so far as to blame the lack of breaks, combined with my autumn onslaught of personal hardship and Russ's fresh newness to the game, for stopping my winning streak... but I won't stoop that low. ;-) (But only because there is no possible way for me to assert with any degree of certitude that I could have bested his excellent playership had I only been mentally rested!!! ;-DDDDD)

Uh oh, she's getting ready. We better all watch out.

Jerry Mathis | December 12, 2005
This is the first time I've checked the site in a while. I admit that I kinda miss the game, and I'm looking forward to the next round. Hope everyone is well.

Amy Austin | December 13, 2005
Well, that's about as much smack as you'll hear me talk as long as Russ and Jerry are still playing... I think Jerry might have had a shot at champion if he hadn't had other things to attend to also. Guess it's too much to hope that he'll have more next round... maybe a business trip that will include Mike E. AND Russ... yeah, that's the ticket. (And speaking of Mike Eberhart, where *is* he hiding out these days, anyway??? I miss him and his right-wing presence.)

Scott Horowitz | December 13, 2005
I think I'd have a good chance if they were celebrities I actually knew and if I didn't suck at the game!!!

Amy Austin | December 14, 2005
Hell, I don't "actually know" the celebrity at least half of the time -- I just don't "suck at the game", I guess! ;-D

Scott Hardie | December 20, 2005
The worst part is... *I* don't know the celebrity half the time.

Amy Austin | December 20, 2005
HAHAHAHAHA!

Mike Eberhart | December 20, 2005
Oh, don't worry, the right wing presence is still here. I've just been busy lately. I'll be around more soon though.

Amy Austin | December 21, 2005
Glad to hear it. :-)

As well I think the outcome would have been different had Jerry been around the whole time (Thanks Jerry). He's never seems to get rattled by the frustration that settles on the rest of us. It's as if he has the "Celebrity Goo Game - Home Edition".

I'm still waiting for Steve to explain the significance of Lorena Bobbitt being published on my birthday... (!!?!!)

Scott Horowitz | January 25, 2006
Hey Amy, just wondering how Ed is doing? We haven't heard much on him lately, wanted to make sure he was doing alright.

Amy Austin | January 26, 2006
Well, thanks for your concern, Scott... I don't hear that much on him these days, either! His calls come fewer and farther between, and his e-mails are infrequent one-liners just to let me know he's still alive. He should be coming home in a couple more weeks -- don't know exactly when, though. (And even if I did, I probably shouldn't say.) I am hoping to see him for Valentine's Day, but not counting on it. I'll probably miss his birthday, too.
