Superbad

I passed on this after being so disappointed in The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Judd Apatow is seriously overrated. It's a rare comedy with improvised dialogue that succeeds in being funnier than it would have been with a solid script (that goes for you too, Christopher Guest). Apatow somehow gets credit for sticking to his artistic vision even though he consistently panders to the lowest common denominator.

Thanks, Derek. That abbreviated review is pretty much how Thorough Movie Reviews started, back when the title was ironic. Now it's just weird.
The reviews for Walk Hard aren't good, and year-end essays call Knocked Up overrated. Perhaps Apatow is beginning to lose his mojo?
