Recent anecdotal evidence suggests that because the Redskins won yesterdays game against the Packers it's time for The President to start packing his bags. This 'trend' has held since the election of Roosevelt in 1936.

How much faith do you put into this so called evidence of fact?

Some that I've spoken with already say the election is over, and we shouldn't bother to go to the polls.

Right notion Todd, but you got the results a little wrong. Redskins lost yesterday, which means the incumbant will lose. Just FYI

Yeah, I saw that after I posted.

I still said that Mr. Bush should be leaving, conflicted myself...damn lack of editting.

So obviously you think it's a forgone conclusion then.

Scott Horowitz | November 1, 2004
I don't think it is a forgone conclusion, but it does make me happy!

It's not anything concrete, but I'll take any hope at this point.

Okay, how did you suddenly become a question mark, Jackie -- I know I saw the new pic elsewhere! (BTW, I thought that your "witchy" picture was cute... and I was right about your "bangs" the first time... they *were* feathers!!!) This is a little bit weird, seeing everyone up a little bit closer... but it is easier to read with bigger font and no cute yellow background with flowers (I did like, but hard to read with white on top!)

I honestly have NO IDEA who's going to win this election. But I did hear a really dumb advertisement on TV the other night (I think it was a Democratic pub, too) say something like, "...making this the closest election in years!" And I was like, "woo, yeah, tightest margin in... about four years, I'd say!!!"

Todd Brotsch | November 1, 2004
haha, great ad, that's really what we want, a situation where tens of thousands of lawyers get to 'decide' the election.

In other odd political ad news I saw two different billboards in Orlando suggesting that Bush was responsible for all of the hurricanes that hit Florida.

Anthony Lewis | November 1, 2004
I always root for the Redskins to lose. If the aformentioned trend continues, you want to talk about a bonus??? Oh man!

Amy Austin | November 1, 2004
How exactly was that line of reasoning made, Todd?!! If Bush can control the weather, then he sure as heck doesn't need the Presidency to make him the most powerful man on Earth!!! ;D

Anna Gregoline | November 1, 2004
There was some joke going around the internet that the hurricane only hit the parts of Florida that voted for Bush, avoiding the parts that voted for Gore. It's of course a major stretch.

Scott Horowitz | November 1, 2004
Just to add more shit to the fan... my friend is going to law school up here, lives in Broward County Florida, he requested an absentee ballot at the end of August... still has not received it as of yesterday.

Todd Brotsch | November 1, 2004
Here's the link for the reasons against it according to factcheck, and the weather channel the hurricane comment is completely retarded. It's suggested that because Bush is poor on the enviroment, and global warming. Global warming went up, hence more hurricanes. Or something like that.

This link explains it better.

Scott, it should be in his mailbox today. HOWEVER, he has to get it up to the main post office by 9pm tonite, so it can be postmarked and back in Theresa LaPore's office in the morning.

Folks, it's started already.

Anthony Lewis | November 1, 2004
Herd that on The Randi Rhodes show just a few minutes ago.

Anthony Lewis | November 1, 2004
Wait, he's in NY? He's screwed.

There's a vote that likely won't get counted. He won't even HAVE his ballot until the day AFTER the election. Theresa LaPore didn't get the ballots in the mail until Saturday.

Anthony Lewis | November 1, 2004
Tell him to send that ballot in ANYWAY!

Scott Horowitz | November 1, 2004
That's what they told him... but that's absolutely ridiculous. I just got off the phone with him and he did not receive it. FIled a grievance with the Kerry/Edwards Legal team though, so if there is a problem... We're definitely not knowing who won this tomorrow night.

Scott Hardie | November 1, 2004
Scary, scary stuff, the weeks of litigation seemingly ahead of us, not to mention four more years of the winner being called a cheater or illegitimate, no matter which one he is. But I've heard more than one person express confidence that the election will be called by midnight tomorrow night, so here's hoping we're all worried for nothing. Even if my man is the clear loser by tomorrow night, I'll still be counting my blessings not to have to go through the same ridiculous fiasco as 2000 (and this time living in Florida).
