I've said most of what I wanted to say in my TMR. I thought this was the best film in the trilogy, marginally better than the first because it was able to build on what had come before instead of being saddled with the task of setting everything up. To me, the second film was by far the weakest, because it sidelined the hobbits to highlight the generic peasant people of Rohan, who I could not possibly care less about. This film, with its renewed emphasis on the hobbits, was the masterpiece finish promised when the series started.
So now, I want to know what you think. Certainly just about everybody here will see it in the next week or so. Post a comment or two. (And if you haven't seen it, avoid the comments below if you're sensitive about spoilers.)
