Voting is for Old People
Anna Gregoline | March 3, 2004
I think few young people believe that voting can make a difference in their lives, and that the only people who seem to believe this are their parents - old people.

I'm sure somebody will make a "Throw Voting Rocks at Boys" shirt.

The latest controversial t-shirt, following closely behind the "Boys Are Stupid" shirts and the "Passion of the Christ" merchandized tie-in shirts, is the Voting is for Old People shirt. On one hand, the manufacturer, Urban Outfitters (they of "Ghettopoly"), defends the shirt as being a statement that politicians no longer care about youth issues. That seems like a valid point, especially since the demographic to which this shirt would most appeal is not yet of legal voting age. On the other hand, I don't care if you work for Harvard, you've got to be pretty clueless to think young people would want to wear a "Voting Rocks!" t-shirt.
