56 Up
Since 1964, director Michael Apted has documented the fates of a group of Britons, questioning them every seven years about their lives and beliefs. Apted's subjects are now 56 years old, and provide perspectives that are frequently surprising.

Samir Mehta: “It ruled.”

Literally the greatest documentary series I've ever seen, and the only case I know of for the value of reality television. If you haven't seen this, you should rush out and watch 7 Up (and the next two - you need to see a few to get the effect) immediately. But if you don't know the film, all I can say is it's like seeing old friends after many years. The Up series continues to be an apex of documentary filmmaking.
