Samir Mehta: “It ruled.”
Wow. Baumbach’s best film, and career work from Scarlet Johansson and Adam Driver. Insightful, heartbreaking, and bitter sweet.

Evie Totty: “It ruled.”
My god, I cried so many times watching this film. I agree - his best film (but if you have not seen Frances Ha - do so).
Every film I see Driver in I'm more and more impressed with his abilities. (Wasted in Star Wars - but what little they let him do improved the film).
It was also nice to see Johanssen in her 'natural state'. I'd heard of her prior to Iron Man 2. Had probably seen her in stuff too. I'd already liked her, I know.
This film just broke my heart. Bittersweet like Samir said. I saw some of my own marriage in this. Especially the selfishness of his part. Just because he was happy he deemed everyone happy. No matter what was said. He didn't want things to change, so he just didn't see any other option as an option.
And now, today, my ex and I are friends. I'm glad for that. I'm glad the couple here became friends so quickly after it was over. I'm glad that they still have affection. I'm glad the story has this side of divorce and the 'after' because we more often see couples who hate each other til their dying days and seem to make it their life's purpose to make the other miserable. And it's so sad to see.
I'm glad I made time to watch this before the end of the year.
