Evie Totty: “It ruled.”
Honestly, I REALLY wanted to hate this movie. For the same reason everyone else did - because I didn't want to see anyone else playing Genie.
But damn. I must say that Will Smith knocked it out of the park. And the rest of the movie is kind of like how the animated one is: Genie is good enough in it to make the film great. Who cares what the rest of it is?
If you haven't seen it yet (check's Disney+ - nope, not there yet), check it out!

A solid live-action recreation of the original. I worried about Will Smith as the genie, after such a high bar was set by Robin Williams. Smith was able to make the role his own, while giving a few nods to the original ("teeny tiny living space").

Samir Mehta: “It was ok.”
Conceptually, this movie could have worked. Casting doomed it twice. The Jafar simply lacked the menace and malice of the animated one. And Will Smith, though talented and game, could never live up to Williams’s Genie. Worth a see but not great.
