Echoes from the White House
2001
Martin Sheen hosts this documentary that commemorates the 200th anniversary of the White House by taking an in-depth look at the beloved piece of American architecture and history and examining artifacts from various presidents. Letters, memos and journal entries bring to light the inside details of the good, the bad and the ugly that's taken place within the White House's great halls over the past 200 years.

Scott Hardie: “It was ok.”

I hoped that this would be a fine follow-up after watching The West Wing, but alas. It's too short and too shallow to tell much beyond a surface story of how the White House was built and rebuilt, and you've probably heard most of this information before if you're a history buff. Having the historical diaries and letters be read by celebrities creates a distraction, especially since they spend most of the time looking into the camera.
