Scott Hardie: “It ruled.”

Great drama, 90% about addiction and 10% about aviation (rather than the 70% aviation/30% addiction mix that the trailer made it seem like). Denzel Washington is amazing, and I barely recognized him in some scenes, so much does he change his usual mannerisms at times. The scene where he hits rock bottom depicts some frightening moral compromises. The movie is a little implausible in parts, but I do buy the ending, and like it. If I have any big complaint about the movie, it's the way too on-the-nose song choices, which spell out the themes in annoyingly obvious ways.
