Know what the scariest part of this movie is for me? The fact that it is supposed to be real. Of course some has been changed to make it even more exciting but damn.

This is some Evil Dead kind of shit... but real.

Samir Mehta: “It ruled.”

Wow. Just wow. A "straight" horror is really hard to do and deserves high praise when it hits. This is justifiably in the camp of Descent, Frailty, Orphanage, Mama and the 28 Days Later/28 Weeks Later of the best horror of the new millennium. (FAR better than Paranormal Activity.) With minimal gore and trickery, it just builds a sense of place and dread and works it. Unlike much of the middling horror lately, strength of the film comes not from camera fakeouts or the score, but from superb acting (an amazing set of leads from Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson) and a great rich story. See this if you like horror at all.

Erik Bates: “It ruled.”

I've never watched a horror movie that had me scared to walk down the hall to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

...until now.

The Conjuring has enough of the truly haunting feel to it that it gets you at a deeper level. Seriously one of the best I've seen. And seriously... what is that red light in my hallway? I need to pee!
