The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec
2013
Adventurer Adèle must complete a mission in Egypt while fending off her nemesis. But her efforts are complicated by an escaped Pterodactyl in Paris!

Scott Hardie: “It ruled.”

I'm predisposed to enjoying supernatural adventures from this time period, and I have a thing for well-photographed French goofiness (imagine what Jean-Pierre Jeunet could have done with this!), so it's no wonder that I really enjoyed this silly action-comedy by Luc Besson, adapted from a comic book. Some of the supporting characters are a bit annoying in their cluelessness, but the heroine is more than winning enough to make up for it, and the movie keeps introducing new comic elements and bright ideas well into its third act. This was a treat.
