My apologies for a strange behavior by one of the Lucky Cats that has now been changed: Chairo stole from her own master. If you activated her power and then solved a 100-point goo, she would steal 50 of those points and hand them right back to you. That's silly, and I have stopped her from doing that as of today. I have also gone back through the point history and merged a few instances of Chairo stealing from her own master into a single line-item instead of two. (For anyone who isn't aware of the point histories: Click on any player's name on The Pagoda to see a full step-by-step record of how that player arrived at that score.)
Unfortunately, this did have a slight effect on scores: If you had previously activated Shiro's power an odd number of times, you were due to receive an odd number of points on the goo, and Chairo rounds down, causing you a 1-point net loss. For example, a goo that's normally worth 100 points is worth 125 if you have activated Shiro once. You activate Chairo and then solve the 125-point goo. She takes 62 points (half of 125 rounded down), leaving you 62, and then hands the stolen 62 points back to you, for a net gain of 124 instead of the 125 that you deserved. I have also corrected these instances, giving the players that extra point that they were due. But all player scores are intertwined, so this change had a slight ripple effect on other players who used Daidaiiro to leapfrog just ahead of those players, so those items had to be fixed too. What a mess!
Anyway, here's a complete list of what I changed today in the point histories:
- On June 13, Samir solved the goo of Paul McBeth for 150 points, but Chairo took 75 of those points and gave them back to Samir. I have merged this in the point history. (It now just shows Samir earning 150 for solving the goo, with no mention of Chairo.) Samir's score has remained the same.
- On June 14, Steve solved the goo of Juliana Hatfield for 150 points, but Chairo took 75 and gave them back. I have merged these in the point history. Steve's score has remained the same.
- On June 24, Joanna solved the goo of Vincent Bustamante for 175 points, but Chairo took 87 and left her 87. I have merged these in the point history. Joanna's score has increased by 1 as a result.
- On June 26, Chris solved the goo of Dee Snider for 125 points, but Chairo took 62 and left him 62. I have merged these in the point history. Chris's score has increased by 1 as a result.
- On June 28, Justin solved the goo of California Chrome for 50 points, but Chairo took 25 and gave them hack. I have merged these in the point history. Justin's score has remained the same.
- On June 29, Denise was immediately below Joanna when she activated Daidaiiro's power. Because Joanna's score raised by 1 point, I have also increased Denise's score by 1 point.
- On June 30, Justin was immediately below Chris when he activated Daidaiiro's power. Because Chris's score raised by 1 point, I have also increased Justin's score by 1 point.
That's all of it. Kiiro, Momoiro, and Kuro's abilities are also relative to other scores, but none of the benefits that they provided were affected by the above.
