Is there sufficient interest in another "block party" for RB this Friday? The idea is similar to what Russ proposed last time: From 9am till midnight, play lots of concerts, talk to lots of players, and snack on leftovers. One free R2 card to each player who participates, and probably some bonus high-ranking cards as prizes, such as to the player who takes on the most different opponents during the event, or as a giveaway incentive for new players to try the game. If enough people say "I'm in," it's on.

Amy Austin | November 21, 2007
I will participate to whatever degree that I can, but that may not be much since my best friend is coming to see me in what is very much a time of need. And I'm moving again.

Steve West | November 21, 2007
I'm one of the unlucky ones working that day but I'll play as much as I can afterward. Federal Reserve Bank open means we're open.

Justin Woods | November 21, 2007
I'm in, I will try to play as many as I can...

No worries if you have other plans; I figured most people would. That's why I'm asking. Thanks for the feedback so far.

Aaron Shurtleff | November 21, 2007
I didn't even know there was a Block Party I! Where the heck was I?! I'm in...as much as I can get away with. ;)

Amy Austin | November 21, 2007
Labor Day weekend, Aaron -- before you came out of the dark ages at home (but after, I believe, your neighbors canned their signals)... ;-)

Eric Wallhagen | November 21, 2007
I'll be there for a dozen or so at least. Got nothing better to do that day at least =P

Denise Sawicki | November 21, 2007
I'll be there if it happens but I'll be playing on dial-up :P

Justin Woods | November 21, 2007
Joanna has been working a lot but she is in also...

Russ Wilhelm | November 21, 2007
That's the start of Holiday decorating for me, mainly putting lights up on the roof and carrying boxes back and forth for those who do the real decorating, but I'll show up as much as I can.

Kelly Lee | November 22, 2007
Sorry, I can't make it. I may be too insane from visiting parents that day.

Scott Hardie | November 23, 2007
It's on. I myself might miss the first few minutes, but play starts at 9am. Come for as long as you feel like. Last time we did this, the most frequest play occurred 10am-2pm and 5pm-7pm.

Jacob Martin | November 23, 2007
Im definately going to be there i dont have school till monday=]

Aaron Shurtleff | November 23, 2007
Cheap Trick is very popular, by random chance!! ;)

Aaron Shurtleff | November 23, 2007
OK, I'd like to get my five victories in one day today, assuming I can win five matches. I've got 2 so far! Yay!!

I'm welcoming all challenges!! No matter how crazy!!! I'm coo-coo!! :)

Aaron Shurtleff | November 24, 2007
Three! Oh, please! Challenge and challenge and challenge me!!!

Scott Hardie | November 24, 2007
There's also a brand-new achievement to unlock: Win five consecutive concerts. Three players have it already since it's retroactive. The play rule that comes from it is a fun one, so go after it.

Aaron Shurtleff | November 24, 2007
I can barely win five in one day, now you want consecutive?! I'll have to see what I can do, but that's going to be tricky.

So, still only one person with the Rock Block rule... Wonder what it is?

Aaron Shurtleff | November 24, 2007
Well, I nearly killed myself, and Scott totally took advantage of my will not refuse any challenge to take cards from me (:P), but I made it to the Achievement! Thanks to everyone who put up with me, and helped me out along the way!

I doubt I get the R8 card, but I still think I had the most fun! Yay!!

Scott Hardie | November 24, 2007
Congrats, Aaron! And just a day ago, Eric said this wasn't your holiday. :-)

Also congrats to Russ on earning the R8 card by taking on twelve different opponents, more than half of the seventeen people who played today. I have a feeling you're going to like this card, Russ.

Thanks to everybody who made this day a success! We'll do one of these every 1-3 months.

Aaron Shurtleff | November 24, 2007
Dang! Just looked back at my RB history, and I had a streak of 4 consecutive wins! So close!! Now I'm sitting on a streak of 2, so I'm hesitant to mess it up.

Scott Hardie | November 24, 2007
I suspect that it's likelier (and easier) to bring about if you play well over time and don't worry about it, rather than trying to make it happen and stressing over every loss. The three players who already achieved it did it that way, of course.

Russ Wilhelm | November 24, 2007
Awsome. Thanks Scott, the card is perfect. And thanks to all who played. This was what I intended to do in the first Block Party, but life had other plans for me that day. The card was a bonus, more so than I would have anticipated, but I'd have played the day the same way regardless.

Aaron, not sure how much help I was in you getting to your goal, but anytime I can help a fellow player reach an achievement, without negatively affecting myself, I am more than willing to jump in. It's mostly been through swaps, but playing against you was a truely enjoyable experience.

Seventeen out of twenty current players. That's fantastic.

Denise Sawicki | November 25, 2007
Yeah I have a streak of 3 wins currently but i really better make the effort not to worry about it. I guess there are better things to worry about!

Amy Austin | November 25, 2007
I really wish I could have been around all day to play -- and if it weren't for my visit with a dear friend, I would have been. I squeezed in what I could. ;-(

Steve West | November 25, 2007
We missed you Amy. With nothing better to do, I looked at your RB record Scott. I see five wins in a row for you, concert numbers 200 - 204. Treat yourself.

Amy Austin | November 25, 2007
;-)

Scott Hardie | November 25, 2007
Thanks for the find, Steve. One list ordered concerts by the start date, the other by the end date. It's fixed. Occasionally I feel bad about how many little mistakes there are in my RB code, but I said when I launched it that this was by far the most complicated thing I had ever programmed and I expected small bugs like these, so it's par for the course.
