In this tournament I want to wish everybody the best of luck!!!!! Here are some suggested rules Scott may want to take it under condersation. Everybody should go to his/her seat in front of the computer, and before they open the goo and the clock starts, they should know. 1)NO hitting below the belt and no biting....lol. 2) Keep your fingers on the keyboard and solve the goo's as fast as you can......haha. Scott always does a GREAT job on the goo tournaments and it's always fun to be in the round playing with every member on this site. With all the good players,it's hard to figure out who is gonna win this tournament. Everyone will be bringing their "A" game this goo tournament. I have enjoyed this round and site. Playing PP has been a hit for members and so has this Goo round and upcoming tournament. In these tournaments EVERYBODY plays this game well and usually comes up with some quick times. I wouldn't expect it any other way. Best of Luck to all the members in the Goo tournament and in the PP Tournament Wrath of Circe!!!!!

No biting? No hitting below the belt? Since when is that not allowed! :-)

Thanks, Chris! It's been a fun goo season so far. I really enjoyed each of the player-created themes, and not just because they gave me a break, for which I'm still grateful. :-) We have one theme left to go, a trip back through the history of the goo game on the eve of its 15th anniversary. I hope that you all enjoy it, and I wish you good luck in the tournament to come.

Wrath of Circe has been going well too, albeit quietly by its nature. It won't be long now before someone learns Circe's secret...

Seriously. I get kicked in the crotch every tournament with somebody's incredible solve time. All answers must be slow from now on if I stand any chance!

Chris Lemler | February 3, 2013
It seems if I remember correctly the last time we faced off in the last goo tournament Steve you kicked me in the crotch with your fastest time and I couldn't get up for days....haha :)

Chris Lemler | February 13, 2013
Apparently, I need Justin Wood's ISP connection. WOW! Justin what is your download speed down there in Belleville!!!!!!.....LOL

Justin Woods | February 13, 2013
Just recently upgraded my AT&T u verse to 30mbps... :)

Steve Dunn | February 13, 2013
Haha, dang Justin, I thought I was safe! Looks like a lot of folks had good times, though. Congrats on yours.

Justin Woods | February 13, 2013
Sorry Steve, I just read an article about him not to long ago that helped a little too...

Many players prefer hard goos in tournaments, but I can't imagine anybody being thrilled about the way this week has gone. Why is it that the game seems to swing to one extreme or the other? Either the tournament goos are too easy and everybody solves them in seconds and it's a fastest-finger race, or the tournament goos are too hard and everybody guesses wrong and it becomes a contest of attrition. It's like bowling; there are two gutters that the ball tends to veer into and get stuck in, and it's difficult to throw the ball right down the middle between them. I can only keep trying.

Would some kind of pre-screening help? Have a typical player attempt each goo in advance and suggest to me whether it should be harder or easier? Obviously, this would only work if it was someone with the integrity not to share the answer with anyone, and they might or might not get credit in the tournament since they would be playing different final goos than everyone else. Kelly would probably do it if I asked her, but she's had so much inactivity in the game that I don't know if her skill set would be the same as other players. If pre-screening is a good idea, and one of you feels like volunteering for it, speak up and I may consider it.

I'm more than open to other suggestions for solving this dilemma.

Chris and Erik, good job hanging on longer than everybody else, and good luck on Monday.

Chris Lemler | February 16, 2013
Thanks Scott!!!! but I'm going up against a fast finger machine!!!! :) This will be a tough match for me but , will give it all I can in the final battle!!!! :) Just want to wish Erik good luck on the final goo. However, lets see how this final goo goes in the end for the both of us!!!!! :) Erik played well to get to the final goo!!! :)

Scott Hardie | February 18, 2013
Good guesses, Chris and Erik, but not quite right. Today's goo would have eliminated you both, so it's been stricken from the tournament and we'll resume again tomorrow. Good luck!

Kudos to both remaining. My thing is I hate clues that don't make sense to me until I see the answer. I need the clues to lead to the answer and not the other way around. The celebrities in and of themselves, the gooed images, and the categories (mostly) are fine. For example, if Kerry Washington is most famous for Scandal then I need more than "almost controversial" to utilize that clue. This is just from my personal perspective and not intended to be sour grapes. Some were able to solve that one. Tattoo maven as a job description was totally wasted on me. A Korean pop star whose quote led to the usefulness of the clue - way too byzantine for my meager skill set. Tournament goos by definition are supposed to be hard but these were bordering on impossible.

Scott Hardie | February 19, 2013
Agreed. These turned out way harder than intended. Even the one today that I didn't think was very hard apparently is quite difficult. Maybe it's my frame of reference? In a season full of player suggestions, maybe I should have had players come up with these tournament goos.

I struggled with various clues for Nikki Forte that were too specific, and wound up with one that was too generic.

The goo of not-Psy was intended to look like Psy (sunglasses) and seem like Psy (Korean pop star, uses humor) as a ruse, while still leaving a route to not-Psy that I thought could be Googled but apparently couldn't. Three people found the "messy" article about not-Psy, but one of them sadly guessed the wrong name in the article.

Kerry Washington? I really didn't think that one was hard at all, and obviously I was wrong. Equating "controversy" with "scandal" is the kind of word association that I think makes for a good simple riddle, but I was wrong about that too.

Since today's goo is no longer part of the tournament, let me say that it involves a trick similar to the Washington goo.

Your humility is noted, Erik, but we crave CONTROVERSY!!!!

Chris Lemler | February 20, 2013
I would have to agree with Samir and would have to agree with Erik but in my book whoever goes in the HOF deserves that spot!!!! :)

It has been suggested that if your opponent has solved today's goo in less time than you've already spent looking for the answer, that the page should just say so, so that you can relax and take your time to look for the answer. I can see pros and cons to this, and I'm on the fence. What do you all think? (Some of the "cons" that I can think of are technical limitations that I wouldn't expect anybody else to worry about.)
