Is anybody else here a fan of America's Drive-In? Personally I don't care for it much, but Kelly loves their cranberry limeade and we go about once a week late at night. The Frito burritos are pretty good.

What is tipping etiquette at a drive-in restaurant? We can't seem to agree. I say anyone bringing you your food and change is worth at least a small tip, but Kelly says it's just fast food brought to you on roller skates. The Web suggests that the staff only gets waitress wages (as in, less than minimum wage, with the rest made up in tips), but as with everything on the Web, that's unverifiable without trusting the answer of someone who works there. I may ask the next time we go, but I'm curious what you think.

never tipped anyone at Sonic but then I've only eaten there a few times, I was always an In n Out kinda guy personally. We get Sonic ads up here but the closest location is 400-500 miles away

Also never tipped, and I loved the place when I had access to one. Interestingly, a handful of them were built and opened here while I was gone... and all closed before my return -- no idea what gives with that one. One of them was even within walking distance of my new residence. I also loved the cranberry limeade, among other things.

Cranberry limeade, good. Apple grape Sprite, not so good.

Maybe this is more of an advertising annoyance, but what's with places advertising to you that aren't in your area? I live in a community called Lakewood Ranch that's northeast of Sarasota. Every week, we get a newspaper coupon book with a prominent Dominos Pizza ad on the front. I've been tempted to buy from there a few times, especially when they came out with the pasta bowls recently, but they don't have any locations close to to Lakewood Ranch and they don't deliver here. Why are they spending money to advertise in the Lakewood Ranch newspaper then?

When I was a kid, I spent a lot of weekends at my Grandparent's house, cause my family was all working every first weekend of the month at the Kane County Flea Market (and still are, but mostly it's just my brother and a gaggle of other relatives, they own it). My Grandma would make me something she called Cranberry mountain, which was basically an Aldi brand knock off Sprite with Cranberry juice. That is what brings me back to Sonic.

I never really thought about it until now. I must be a horrible person. I even tip at take-out places (which I usually get made fun of for), so I can't believe it never occurred to me. :(

Plus, I never have cash, and there's no option to put the tip on the card. That makes it harder.

There's a Sonic just down the road from my work right here, but nothing very close to my house...
