I can't say I had a crush on him, but it was unfortunate he had to go. In the beginning, there was strong sense that this kid didn't belong: The adult characters had all earned the right to be the senior officers and didn't consistently screw up & endanger the ship, while Wesley only seemed to be present because Gene Roddenberry wanted his inner teenager to be represented. But good episodes along the way proved that Wesley could be an interesting character when put into proper relief. He coulda been a contender.

The character I don't think belonged was Dr. Crusher, who should have been permanently replaced by Dr. Pulaski, smarter and kinder and more realistic and ten times more interesting.

And if they'd dropped Gates McFadden, we'd all have been spared "Sub Rosa."

Watching TNG this morning, it finally dawned on me, the coincidence of the chief engineer being named "the forge." Why don't I notice these things?
